Impact’s victory against LA Galaxy was a special one for Drogba

Montreal Impact has recently gone through a period of time when they were unable to secure a single victory.

The Canadian football team Montreal Impact claimed a 2-1 triumph over Chicago Fire on April 16 but their next victory didn’t arrive until May 29 when Impact defeat LA Galaxy. This period of time saw Montreal Impact not being able to win a game in 6 matches.

The recent victory against LA Galaxy was a particularly special one for Didier Drogba as the Ivorian striker scored a goal which helped his team in securing the victory and gathering all 3 points.  Drogba scored the last goal of the match as he found the back of the net at the 94th minute and he tore off his shirt in celebration.

This injury time winning goal from Drogba was the 5th one from the veteran attacker from the season. The 38 year old forward is one of the top goal-scorers of Montreal Impact as he continues to prove his worth even at such an elevated age.

Another reason of why this triumph was important for Didier Drogba is due to the fact that it was his return game after being injured. Drogba was unable to play against Orlando City on May 21st and resulted with Montreal Impact losing. Continue reading “Impact’s victory against LA Galaxy was a special one for Drogba”

Seattle Sounders In Action Against Houston Dynamo

The Seattle Sounders are all set to achieve victory with their road league of the year, which is being held on 10th April at BBVA stadium.

The team is playing against the Houston Dynamo. Since 2013, the Sounders have not lost to the Houston Dynamo. They have held the edge of 5-3-3 which is the all time series. The Sounders starting with 0-3 for the first time in the history of MLS posted their first victory of this season in the match held on Saturday against the Montreal Impact. The first goal of the Major League Season was scored by Clint Dempsey and he has won the third place in all six games with the win.

There are mixed predictions about the match as the Houston Dynamo has played against the New England Revolution team on the opening day and 5-0 wins over FC Dallas. As the team has lost twice it has allowed five goals to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC and New York Red bulls. As far as the Seattle Sounders are concerned, they earned their shutout against the Montreal Impact. The Sounders have allowed goals of 5 in 4 games in this season. Kevin De Bruyne returns to First Team action

Kevin De Bruyne return to first-team action in the best possible manner after scoring on his return.

The Belgian international was a mega money signing for Manchester City in the summer. His presence was a major factor in the club getting enough victories to sustain a title challenge in the first half. His injury in January proved a decisive factor, as City have since dropped out of the title race at an alarming pace. The club is also now in danger of missing out on a top four place. Despite having done well in the Champions League and qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition, Manuel Pellegrini will be despised for his inability to get the club into the top four.

The Chilean welcomed the De Bruyne at this crucial stage and the former Chelsea winger repaid his faith by scoring one of the goals in the 4-0 win over Bournemouth. City were three up inside 20 minutes after goals from Fernando and Sergio Aguero to go along withDe Bruyne’s effort. Defender Aleksandar Kolarov scored in the closing moments of the game to provide even more advantage for City in the race for the top four. The club now have a substantial advantage in the goal difference over United, who are just one point behind.

“Kevin was a very important player for our team before and I think he returned today in a very good shape.I did not want him to play more than 55 minutes, but I hope that from now until the end of the season he will continue with the same performances we are used to.It was a good victory for the Premier League. The Premier League will be very tight at the end of the season, I think it will be very important to try and get a spot in the Champions League,” said Pellegrini.

There has not been much of a winter break for the Spanish clubs

There has not been much of a winter break for the Spanish clubs – especially Barcelona due to their involvement in the Club World Cup – but this does not seem to affect Luis Enrique and his men.

The manager was recently named as the coach of the year at the FIFA Ballon d’Or awards. Despite many being sceptical about his appointment, Enrique managed to match the achievements of great managers like Pep Guardiola by winning a whole host of trophies in one campaign. Repeating the feat will be a major task, but Barcelona appear to be in a strong position as far as defending the league is concerned.

The club are up against Granada just a few days after the 4-1 win over arch rivals Espanyol. Enrique has called for focus from his players and also not to underestimate the opponents. Three points will be a major necessity for the club after having recently conceded the top spot in the la Liga to Atletico Madrid. The latter have been able to go two points clear by virtue of playing one game more than the Catalan club. Barcelona have recently been strengthened by the arrivals of several young players and Arda Turan. The club have been unable to complete the signing of the former Atletico Madrid star due to the transfer ban, which has now been lifted.

Mauro Biello wants to stay as coach of Montreal Impact

Following a string of underwhelming performances and results, Frank Klopas was sacked as the head coach of Montreal Impact and now Mauro Biello is the interim manager but this isn’t the first time that the Canadian manager has been part of the coaching staff of the MLS club.

Biello has been part of the coaching staff of Montreal Impact since 2009 and he actually had the chance of taking control of the MLS team in 2012 when Montreal Impact went on a tour to Italy and Jesse Marsch had been sacked.

This was Biello’s first chance of becoming the coach of Montreal Impact and he had stated on numerous occasions this desire but he failed to land that position, Biello now has a second chance of making it happen.

After he was appointed as the interim manager of the MLS outfit, Biello voiced his aspirations and what he wants to accomplish as the 43 year old manager said: “It’s my chance. I’ve got a chance to push this team, to bring it up a notch, and I’m going to take it. I’m going to focus on that to do my best and help this team. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season. But I know that I’m going to give everything to this team.” Continue reading “Mauro Biello wants to stay as coach of Montreal Impact”
