Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls have announced that they have signed young defensive talent Curtis Ofori for an undisclosed fee. The transfer is a historic one as it now means that they have signed the youngest-ever player in their history. Curtis, 15, is now the record holder for the youngest player to have signed a professional contract with the club.
Chris Gloster is a left-back that was tipped for great things at Red Bulls but after deciding against signing a first professional contract at the club, he was allowed to leave, which explains the signing of Curtis as his direct replacement given that both players are natural left-backs. Red Bulls ll manager John Wolyniec had only words of praises for Curtis upon the completion of the transfer, and also revealed that he was relishing the chance to work with the exciting youngster.
The manager said that the young defender already trained at the club in the last year and he learnt a lot during that period. According to Wolyniec, Curtis has improved so much as a player and is raring to go after signing his first professional contract at the club.
Curtis himself said he is happy that he has finally signed his contract and promised that he will continue to work hard and fulfil his sole desire of making it to the first team this season.
